Week 12

Last week I made a little something for me!

A pretty and simple leafy headband. I love it so much and have already worn it quite a few times!

This is such a simple project that I think some of you out there could make this yourself!
Here's the pattern:
  • Chain 103
  • Turn, single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in next 11 chains
  • Now go back to making chains. Chain 79 (by this time you will be equal with end of the first row of chains you made)
  • 1 single crochet in each of the next chains (from the first row of chain you completed). The single crochets are made to tie the headband around your head.
  • Fasten off and weave in ends
Leaves:
  • Chain 9
  • 1 single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, 1 double crochet in next 3 chain, 1 sc in next ch, 1 slip stitch in next ch, 3 slip stitches in last chain
  • flip to the opposite side of the foundation chain and work the following stitches: 1 slip stitch, 1 sc in next 2 ch, 1 dc in next 3 ch, 1 sc in next ch.
  • Fasten off
Now attach your leaves to the headband!
This pattern can be made with just about any type of yarn and hook. :)

Week 11

If I could sum up the last week in just 1 word I think it would be....
hats...

and more hats!

I think I'll try for something different this week ;)

Week 10

In preparation for moving, I am getting in the spirit of making decorations. Inspired by this blog post, I crocheted a banner to hang up in our new apartment! I can't wait to hang it up in our new living room, and may even add some embellishments to it :)

I also ordered felted wool beads from Etsy:
So I can make these:

I'm loving the spring weather we are having here in Chicago, and am definitely gravitating toward BRIGHT spring COLORS!

Week 9

Despite a week that I can only describe as emotionally trying, I still managed to get a bit of work done. In between marathons of Friday Night Lights and searching for a new apartment (yes, we have decided to move 2 months before our wedding....yes, we are crazy), I crocheted, snapped pictures (because it was actually SUNNY and WARM a few days last week), and picked up my knitting needles.

My results: a new hat for the shop and a pair of wristwarmers (actually I made these last week but wasn't able to take pictures due to the dreariness outside)

Although I'm quite stressed out and nervous about the impending move, there is a really bright, shiny, lining! This new apartment has an office! Which means, I will finally get a crafting room/space! I'm already dreaming of ways to decorate it.
I just have to get through the next month and a half of craziness and lots of things to do...but at least I have my motivation now ;)

Week 8 (two months yes!!)

Another busy week behind me, and another hat in the shop. This one is similar to one I made before in a different color. I'm trying to make more of an effort to make "collections" for my Etsy shop, to create a more cohesive look, rather than have just a bunch of random stuff in there.
We'll see how it works out.

I also made a pair of wristwarmers similar to these:
But unfortunately it has been dark and gloomy for the past week, and I haven't been able to take any pictures. Today is the first sunny day we've had in almost a week!!
I know it's only the beginning of March, and am sure that winter isn't over yet, but I can't help but long for sunny warm days that come in spring.
I think my computer desktop is making me think spring as well ;)

But for now, time to get back to work. I'll have to settle for daydreaming about bike riding, going to the park, and taking long walks for no reason ;)
